According to the ref below, the North American version (UN) will work through December 2015, after which it will not. The P.I. then implements a new transmission standard, ISDB-T. You'll have to carefully check the specs on any TV you buy there to ensure it has the appropriate tuner for the new system.

Being a family driver you are considered being a domestic helper and the following rules apply: An expatriate resident can file an application for a domestic helper's visa at the visa section of the Residency and Naturalisation Department of the Emirate which issued his residence visa. The head of the family (couple with or without children) or a working widow or divorced mother with children, or a widower or divorced father with children can apply for a domestic helper's visa. The sponsor should earn a salary of not less than Dh5,000 with accommodation or Dh6,000. When applying for the domestic helper's visa an expatriate must pay a Dh5,000 refundable deposit which will be returned when the residence visa is stamped on the domestic helper's passport. The sponsor must retain the deposit receipt to obtain a refund. Fees to be paid: When the residence visa is stamped on the domestic helper's passport Dh4,800 must be paid in Interior Ministry fees. Apart from the fee another Dh100 must be paid for the residence visa. - Dh100 for the sponsorship and - Dh100 for a domestic helper's card. When the domestic helper enters the country, you must undergo a health check-up at a government hospital in the emirate where the visa was issued. The cost of the medical check-up is Dh1,200. This should be done before applying for the residence visa. The domestic helper will then be given a health card. You will also be taken for an iris scan and fingerprinting at the police headquarters of the Emirate. The residence visa must be stamped on the domestic helper's passport within 60 days from the date of the person's entry into the country. No one is allowed to employ a domestic helper who is not under his sponsorship. A resident can employ a domestic helper on his own by following the set rules or use the services of a labour recruitment agency which will charge Dh3,500. The annual ministry fees of Dh4,800 and the deposit amount of Dh5,000 is under review and is expected to be reduced. Emiratis who apply for a domestic helper's visa have to pay a Dh1,200 refundable deposit. They do not have to pay the annual Dh4,800 ministry fee. The sponsor needs: An e-form application filled and signed by the sponsor. This will cost Dh100. A copy of the sponsor's passport. copy of the domestic helper's passport. Three passport photos of the helper . An official labour contract (approved and signed by the embassy of the domestic helper) signed by the helper and by the sponsor. Copy of the work contract of the sponsor, with salary certificate. The sponsor can bring a domestic helper from his or her own country, but you need a letter from the embassy or consulate to prove that they are not relatives. Hope, that this answers your question.

Can I work as a U.S Citizen in the Philippines
Can I work as a U.S Citizen in the Philippines?
I have considered the possibility I may move and work in the Philippines. I am a college grad with some business background but currently I am working as a longshoreman in Dutch Harbor Alaska. I bring that up meaning I have education in my background but I am also not afraid to get my hands dirty either. My options are open to anything and if there is a website or some good advice that can point me in the right direction I would be very much grateful ^.^ Take care and thank you.

Jobs for foreigners are extremely scarce, There are special situation jobs like you have mentioned, as well as jobs available for those married to Filipinas or Filipinos, consultants and others on the Link below. But here is the bottom line for most of you: Though business opportunities abound even with little capital, a job, unless it is with a foreign company, is hard to find. If you don't work for a foreign based company, with a few exceptions you need be married to a Filipina to legally work in the Philippines. Work permits are not necessary if you are married to a Filipino citizen. You only need to register with the Department of Labor and Employment.
2 :
For all pratical purposes, no. 20% of the entire population of the Philippines is working outside the Philippines. Another 50% who are still there are living at the poverty level. Opening a business is a ticket to bankruptcy. As a foreigner married to a Filipina you could get the Philippine equivelent of a green card and work. However, you'll find wages that average $5 a day and that's for 10 hours of work.
3 :
Go to www.livinginthephilippines.com As the others have mentioned work for foreigners here is extremely rare. You cannot work on a tourist visa. You would need a working visa or have a spousal visa to be able to work here. With the average wage being $6 a day for a 10 hour day, 6 days a week.

Manila is no different from any other capital in terms of safety. Just keep your wits about and you will be fine. It depends on your citizenship, but generally, foreigners are allowed access to the Philippines for a limited time of 21 days. After that you will need to go to the bureau of immigration to file for an extension. Since this is a quick trip you say, then it shouldn't be a problem. If you come from an ASEAN member country or the US, I'm sure that you don't need a visa. A passport and ID is enough. But do check the Philippine Embassy website just to sure.

Unforunately, no this does not work; it is a deceptive scam. The people who sell "Google Home Business Kit" are not affiliated with Google. They just sell you information that Google already provides for free at www.google.com/adsense . Also, note that the only way to make large amounts of money using Google Adsense is to post a web site with thousands and thousands of pages of content and then optimize those pages to appear on search engines. This requires a lot of time and expertise, and it is very unlikely that a single person working alone would be able to achieve that.
2 :
Hate to say this Yoven, but these are scams... The only genuine way to earn money online via Google is through their Adsense system, which is FREE to subscribe to. Adsense is the system where you put ads from Google on your website, and get paid a small amount of money for each of your visitors who clicks an ad. Many visitors, means many clicks, and thus more money. Adsense can earn you quite some money, but it does take alot of effort and time.
3 :
The catch with all these programs is that once you submit your billing info to pay for the S&H you automatically agree to their membership program. When you apply for the Google Home Business Kit you're also authorizing them to charge you a membership fee of up to $70 a month. This is why these Google Home Business Kits have been called out as serious scams. Most people don't see the fine print which they have cleverly hidden throughout their site. Then a month later they're shocked to see a fee of $70 which they haven't authorized. There've also been thousands of complaints made against these Google Kit companies, by people who've been charged the monthly fees without even receiving the CD's and membership info. http://www.reviewopedia.com/google-home-business-kit.htm

I have an old unlocked Nokia mobile phone and I want to send it my cousin in the Philippines. Will it work?
I bought this phone off eBay some time ago, and it is unlocked. What I want to know is, will this phone be compatible on their network? Does it have some chip in it that will only permit it to be used in Australia, or can they bung a simcard in and away the go?

Mark is right. As long as the phone is actually unlocked, the end user in the Phillipines can purchase a SIM card through a service provider there and use the phone. Your cousin will also likely need to either buy an adapter for the electrical plug on the charger or get a charger there as well.

How do cellphones work here in the Philippines?
like loads and stuff. is this some kind of prepaid phone style? and I heard that you can start using your cellp right after you buy it. is there any paperwork to do, just like they do in other countries?

in the case of phones with prepaid sim, YES.. once you bought it you can immediately use it as long as there is a prepaid credit. no paperworks needed. not like in other countries that you still need some papers(passport) to buy a prepaid sim, in the philippines that is not the case. buying a sim card is as easy as buying a candy and only cost you more or less, 1USD.
2 :
almost all cell phones are prepaid here. a load is when you buy credits for the phone. yes, you can use it right after you buy it. since it is prepaid there is no credit check and no need for identification when purchasing. the only paperwork would be the warranty info for the phone you buy and instructions on using it.... things like that.
3 :
At the airport upon arrival, there are agents of the Network companies selling SIM cards with prepaid loads. You only need to present the payment. How do they work? Dial your desired number and when the receiver answers, start talking.
4 :
If you already own a Cellphone, make sure that it is suited for local use. Meaning it should be Open Lined, and capable of handling GSM 900 /1800 Frequency. If your phone is capable then just go to any flea market inside malls then purchase a Pre-Paid SIM card then viola. Don't forget to buy loads... No paper works needed.

Simple, pay them more money.
2 :
we have to admit that public school teachers are being paid LESS. during elections, they are being used to count the votes of all those who ran for election. their services have already been rendered with this risky job but they are being paid so late. we have a lot of excellent public teachers but it seems that our government is deaf and mute on their cry in the increase of their salaries. in america (kentuky, kansas, texas) our teachers are being offered an initial pay of 2,500-3000 dollars and this is a huge amount to help their poor families, the primary reason why they accept the offer and leave the country.
3 :
Maybe their pay is making them leave. Or maybe they simply think teaching abroad is exciting or is better then just teaching in a classroom. I think you should bring teachers in from somewhere else. Like the United States. We really do have great teachers here. It could be a special program. Fly a few teachers from the US to the Phillipines and she or he can teach you a year then fly back home. But you never know, a teacher might just decide to stay.
4 :
Raise the pay grade, and give them better benefits. I would love to come to the Philippines to teach or on vacation.
5 :
When the Philippine government and the public in general starts to regard the Filipino teacher with the value and respect we truly deserve, our best and brightest mentors will stay home to teach our little children. Until then, the Filipino teacher will always go where they are valued more. Assuming your Zune is on the American FM radio frequency spectrum, it will work in the Philippines as the broadcast frequencies here are the same as in the US... Hope this answers your question.

Anyone here a recent Nursing grad from the Philippines working in the USA
Anyone here a recent Nursing grad from the Philippines working in the USA?
Hello, I'd like to communicate with a few Filipino Nursing grads (male or female) who recently graduated and are working in the US now. I'm particularly interested in getting information from Nursing graduates of Cebu's USC, or Silliman U in Dgte about their transition from the Philippines to the US after graduation. Just contact me at my Yahoo ID please. Thanks.
