It's the easiest job to fill in and a lot of them are available. New graduates want to gain experience and they want it fast.

Its a good place to start. low pressure and good pay. if you get started in a call center and do a very good job, when you want to move on to your next job, you will have a good refrence from your call center boss and a college degree

Carlos, Consider the alternative; work at Jollibee's or McDonalds? Now, when you say most, does that mean nearly half of the new grads or just a small percentage? I will tell you one advantage in working for a call center: It helps you practice your interaction in english. This could actually lead you to a more promising line of work somewhere down the line (e.g. sales, management, consulting & maybe ownership) working with expats like myself. Best of Luck!

Well, right now they have the most job openings. Also, they have one of the higher starting pays as compared to other industries. And with how unstable our economy is, jobs are really hard to come by. We produce more graduates than jobs each year.

nurses even in a big city where I'm at is even paid a third of what call center agents are taking home- net so this answers your question,,, it's really about the money first then the experience.. you get to have a glimpse of the american world and get to be familiar with different accents.. including their complaints of your accent ..
