According to the ref below, the North American version (UN) will work through December 2015, after which it will not. The P.I. then implements a new transmission standard, ISDB-T. You'll have to carefully check the specs on any TV you buy there to ensure it has the appropriate tuner for the new system.

What are the right way if someone wants to get me here in philippines to work in dubai being a family driver.

What are the right way if someone wants to get me here in philippines to work in dubai being a family driver.?

Being a family driver you are considered being a domestic helper and the following rules apply: An expatriate resident can file an application for a domestic helper's visa at the visa section of the Residency and Naturalisation Department of the Emirate which issued his residence visa. The head of the family (couple with or without children) or a working widow or divorced mother with children, or a widower or divorced father with children can apply for a domestic helper's visa. The sponsor should earn a salary of not less than Dh5,000 with accommodation or Dh6,000. When applying for the domestic helper's visa an expatriate must pay a Dh5,000 refundable deposit which will be returned when the residence visa is stamped on the domestic helper's passport. The sponsor must retain the deposit receipt to obtain a refund. Fees to be paid: When the residence visa is stamped on the domestic helper's passport Dh4,800 must be paid in Interior Ministry fees. Apart from the fee another Dh100 must be paid for the residence visa. - Dh100 for the sponsorship and - Dh100 for a domestic helper's card. When the domestic helper enters the country, you must undergo a health check-up at a government hospital in the emirate where the visa was issued. The cost of the medical check-up is Dh1,200. This should be done before applying for the residence visa. The domestic helper will then be given a health card. You will also be taken for an iris scan and fingerprinting at the police headquarters of the Emirate. The residence visa must be stamped on the domestic helper's passport within 60 days from the date of the person's entry into the country. No one is allowed to employ a domestic helper who is not under his sponsorship. A resident can employ a domestic helper on his own by following the set rules or use the services of a labour recruitment agency which will charge Dh3,500. The annual ministry fees of Dh4,800 and the deposit amount of Dh5,000 is under review and is expected to be reduced. Emiratis who apply for a domestic helper's visa have to pay a Dh1,200 refundable deposit. They do not have to pay the annual Dh4,800 ministry fee. The sponsor needs: An e-form application filled and signed by the sponsor. This will cost Dh100. A copy of the sponsor's passport. copy of the domestic helper's passport. Three passport photos of the helper . An official labour contract (approved and signed by the embassy of the domestic helper) signed by the helper and by the sponsor. Copy of the work contract of the sponsor, with salary certificate. The sponsor can bring a domestic helper from his or her own country, but you need a letter from the embassy or consulate to prove that they are not relatives. Hope, that this answers your question.

Can I work as a U.S Citizen in the Philippines

Can I work as a U.S Citizen in the Philippines?
I have considered the possibility I may move and work in the Philippines. I am a college grad with some business background but currently I am working as a longshoreman in Dutch Harbor Alaska. I bring that up meaning I have education in my background but I am also not afraid to get my hands dirty either. My options are open to anything and if there is a website or some good advice that can point me in the right direction I would be very much grateful ^.^ Take care and thank you.

Jobs for foreigners are extremely scarce, There are special situation jobs like you have mentioned, as well as jobs available for those married to Filipinas or Filipinos, consultants and others on the Link below. But here is the bottom line for most of you: Though business opportunities abound even with little capital, a job, unless it is with a foreign company, is hard to find. If you don't work for a foreign based company, with a few exceptions you need be married to a Filipina to legally work in the Philippines. Work permits are not necessary if you are married to a Filipino citizen. You only need to register with the Department of Labor and Employment.
2 :
For all pratical purposes, no. 20% of the entire population of the Philippines is working outside the Philippines. Another 50% who are still there are living at the poverty level. Opening a business is a ticket to bankruptcy. As a foreigner married to a Filipina you could get the Philippine equivelent of a green card and work. However, you'll find wages that average $5 a day and that's for 10 hours of work.
3 :
Go to www.livinginthephilippines.com As the others have mentioned work for foreigners here is extremely rare. You cannot work on a tourist visa. You would need a working visa or have a spousal visa to be able to work here. With the average wage being $6 a day for a 10 hour day, 6 days a week.

Manila is no different from any other capital in terms of safety. Just keep your wits about and you will be fine. It depends on your citizenship, but generally, foreigners are allowed access to the Philippines for a limited time of 21 days. After that you will need to go to the bureau of immigration to file for an extension. Since this is a quick trip you say, then it shouldn't be a problem. If you come from an ASEAN member country or the US, I'm sure that you don't need a visa. A passport and ID is enough. But do check the Philippine Embassy website just to sure.

Unforunately, no this does not work; it is a deceptive scam. The people who sell "Google Home Business Kit" are not affiliated with Google. They just sell you information that Google already provides for free at www.google.com/adsense . Also, note that the only way to make large amounts of money using Google Adsense is to post a web site with thousands and thousands of pages of content and then optimize those pages to appear on search engines. This requires a lot of time and expertise, and it is very unlikely that a single person working alone would be able to achieve that.
2 :
Hate to say this Yoven, but these are scams... The only genuine way to earn money online via Google is through their Adsense system, which is FREE to subscribe to. Adsense is the system where you put ads from Google on your website, and get paid a small amount of money for each of your visitors who clicks an ad. Many visitors, means many clicks, and thus more money. Adsense can earn you quite some money, but it does take alot of effort and time.
3 :
The catch with all these programs is that once you submit your billing info to pay for the S&H you automatically agree to their membership program. When you apply for the Google Home Business Kit you're also authorizing them to charge you a membership fee of up to $70 a month. This is why these Google Home Business Kits have been called out as serious scams. Most people don't see the fine print which they have cleverly hidden throughout their site. Then a month later they're shocked to see a fee of $70 which they haven't authorized. There've also been thousands of complaints made against these Google Kit companies, by people who've been charged the monthly fees without even receiving the CD's and membership info. http://www.reviewopedia.com/google-home-business-kit.htm

I bought this phone off eBay some time ago, and it is unlocked. What I want to know is, will this phone be compatible on their network? Does it have some chip in it that will only permit it to be used in Australia, or can they bung a simcard in and away the go?

Mark is right. As long as the phone is actually unlocked, the end user in the Phillipines can purchase a SIM card through a service provider there and use the phone. Your cousin will also likely need to either buy an adapter for the electrical plug on the charger or get a charger there as well.

How do cellphones work here in the Philippines

How do cellphones work here in the Philippines?
like loads and stuff. is this some kind of prepaid phone style? and I heard that you can start using your cellp right after you buy it. is there any paperwork to do, just like they do in other countries?
Philippines - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
in the case of phones with prepaid sim, YES.. once you bought it you can immediately use it as long as there is a prepaid credit. no paperworks needed. not like in other countries that you still need some papers(passport) to buy a prepaid sim, in the philippines that is not the case. buying a sim card is as easy as buying a candy and only cost you more or less, 1USD.
2 :
almost all cell phones are prepaid here. a load is when you buy credits for the phone. yes, you can use it right after you buy it. since it is prepaid there is no credit check and no need for identification when purchasing. the only paperwork would be the warranty info for the phone you buy and instructions on using it.... things like that.
3 :
At the airport upon arrival, there are agents of the Network companies selling SIM cards with prepaid loads. You only need to present the payment. How do they work? Dial your desired number and when the receiver answers, start talking.
4 :
If you already own a Cellphone, make sure that it is suited for local use. Meaning it should be Open Lined, and capable of handling GSM 900 /1800 Frequency. If your phone is capable then just go to any flea market inside malls then purchase a Pre-Paid SIM card then viola. Don't forget to buy loads... No paper works needed.

Why is it that public school teachers here in the Philippines prefer to work abroad? What can be done

Why is it that public school teachers here in the Philippines prefer to work abroad? What can be done?
What can be done to the declining number of public school teachers?
Teaching - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Simple, pay them more money.
2 :
we have to admit that public school teachers are being paid LESS. during elections, they are being used to count the votes of all those who ran for election. their services have already been rendered with this risky job but they are being paid so late. we have a lot of excellent public teachers but it seems that our government is deaf and mute on their cry in the increase of their salaries. in america (kentuky, kansas, texas) our teachers are being offered an initial pay of 2,500-3000 dollars and this is a huge amount to help their poor families, the primary reason why they accept the offer and leave the country.
3 :
Maybe their pay is making them leave. Or maybe they simply think teaching abroad is exciting or is better then just teaching in a classroom. I think you should bring teachers in from somewhere else. Like the United States. We really do have great teachers here. It could be a special program. Fly a few teachers from the US to the Phillipines and she or he can teach you a year then fly back home. But you never know, a teacher might just decide to stay.
4 :
Raise the pay grade, and give them better benefits. I would love to come to the Philippines to teach or on vacation.
5 :
When the Philippine government and the public in general starts to regard the Filipino teacher with the value and respect we truly deserve, our best and brightest mentors will stay home to teach our little children. Until then, the Filipino teacher will always go where they are valued more. How much is the income tax in the Philippines?
I am currently working from the UK with a whopping 22% off my income. I will be based from the Philippines (working for my UK company) from June but I will be liable for paying my own tax. Can someone please tell me how much income tax they will take off my wages once I'm in the Philippines?

How are you going to be paid is the first question and also are you employed in the Philippines and have the correct visas? The reason I ask is as a foreign national you cant just work in the Philippines (legally) without the correct paperwork. The next thing you need to take into account is how you get paid if you are paid in £ you can lose 5% in transaction fees. I believe the local tax is still at 12%
2 :
It depends on how long are you going to stay working here in the Philippines. If it is just less than 6 months, then you will fall under the tax classification of Non Resident Alien not Engaged in Business and a final tax of 25% (not sure) shall be deducted in your income. But if you have intentions to stay or work for long and will have the necessary work permits, you may be classified under Non Resident Alien Engaged in Trade and Business on which your income tax will be computed just like the regular Philippine employees which uses of the graduated income tax table. The graduated income tax table rates ranges from 10% to 32% depending on which income tax bracket you will fall. Your net taxable income will also be subjected to legal deductions like for your dependents and some social benefits.

difference between Japan and Philippines in work ethics

difference between Japan and Philippines in work ethics?

Philippines - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Believe me there's no difference between Japanese and Filipino's work ethics. Important thing is you need to finished it on deadline with quality. My boss, my staff and 40% of companies staff are Japanese.
2 :
work attitude perhaps. We have a seminar sometime ago entitled " Do we have to become a Japanese to become a conscientious worker?
3 :
There is no comparison of whatsoever. The Japanese are very disciplined and work hard.
4 :
Most of Japanese works on time or as scheduled (in terms of majority). The rest are almost the same.
5 :
I'm American-born, but I have Spanish and Filipino ethnicities. As an American, I can tell you that the Filipino work ethic is frankly a joke. I went to one of the finest schools in Metro Manila and hours went by when nothing would happen in class and there wouldn't even be a teacher there. My dad was a public official there and I worked under him, and I've seen a lot of offices and stuff that really are irreliable. Here's one example. When I was enrolling in that high school, they school (again, a top school) told me I'd need to get documents from the Department of Education there. We had to drive there and it took a couple hours. We got there, and it turned out that I didn't need those documents. In short, we went all that way for absolutely nothing. I was so annoyed. Also with schools there, I heard lots of jokes that you can do well if you bribe the teachers. I later learnt that those weren't jokes. I know one case of a teacher who took bribes; later on, he became the dean at another school where he blackmailed female students into having sex with him or he'd bar them from graduation; he videotaped it, and said that if they told on him, he'd spread the tapes. This is no joke. Below, I left a link to two YouTube pages that made an expose on this horrible teacher. I'm ashamed to know him personally. That awful teacher was arrested; I don't know if the girls were minors, but if they were, this means statutory rape, and until recently, rape was actually punishable by death. He's sure to be put away for the rest of his life. The Bureau of Immigration takes a long time to get work done, like a simple renewal of Visas. It only goes well if you bribe the people to do get the work done quickly. Corruption is a part of life there. Politicians embezzle and take kickbacks. Election cheating is rampant. We used to frequent a restaurant there that was supposed to be pretty good, and I thought the service was spectacularly awful. I'd make orders and still wouldn't get them even after an hour passed. The private sector is also irreliable, although not as much as the government is. There are only a few good schools there that produce reliable workers. The rest just plain suck. You pay people to work for you and they spend more time on breaks than doing any actual work. My dad says that this is because of the Spanish culture there where siestas are common. Filipinos joke that they take a long time to do things because they're on "Filipino time," which really is just a euphamism for incompetence. The "work ethic" that Filipinos like to believe they have is a joke.
6 :
As far as I know the Japanese build a superior product, whether its from work ethic or just plain knowledge, I don't know. Just look around at their houses. Also those multicab things that the filipinos paint and sell for new are all crap. I think filipino women work pretty hard but the men just plain don't give a crap about anything but rooster fighting and tanduay. Some are pretty well accomplished con-artist but other than that, they are also crap.
7 :
Philippines need to know team-working, helping each other, and helping other worker's task. Create harmony of life. If they concentrate in individual life only, poverty won't disappear. God bless Philippines.
8 :
Pinoys are similar to japanese in work ethics. They are willing to produce perfection. But the difference is for Pinoys, someone else has to do the thinking. Create a beautiful product, find the way to do it over and over again, give it to a pinoy, and they will do the same perfect thing for you flawlessly over and over again. But ask them to crate something new and they will come to a full stop. Not that they don't have the brain for it. I think it's the drive they lack, and the habit of doing something that hasn't been done before. Also I think pinoys are too content with a few material posesions, a nice cell phone, iPod, cool pair of shades. That's enough to keep them happy for a long time. One of the best things about pinoys is the fact that they are very happy poeple. I think that's one of their best points, but also because they are so content, they fail to change things, or start new things. That's why we don't see any inovations coming from phils. And it's not because of lack of opprtunity. You have to create that too. Look at the tricycles. How many of them are there in Phils? There is so much room for improvement in everything on a tricycle. But still, every tricycle is a copy of the next one. I'll just have to move to phls and reinvent the tricycle (-: Me and my wife, who is pinoy, run a business in the Middle East. All of our employees are pinoys. We couldn't be happier with our employees.

They are virtually impossible to get now. Right now our visa and immigrations office of our government is hopeless. Part of the reason we have so many people living here illegally is that they know that they can't get here legally, but the same office is also ineffective in finding them and sending them home. The only chance you have is to find a company ("agency") that specializes in such placements.

One company I know is APC in Laguna and there is one in Baguio City which I forgot the name of the company but they make something like an electronic gadget. btw what is ESL.

Ok mate from what I have learnt in my time so far regarding this matter is this. First of all the idea is nice sure but in reality there is much more you have to think about. What are your qualifications? How much start up money do you have saved up already? Do you have good knowledge of the language and local customs? To tell you the truth its quiet hard to get a good paying job for a foreign company in the Pines. Unless you are transfered from a company in the states to there you haven't got much chance. The companies there hire extremely competent locals to do most of their work and the plus there for them is that they pay them relatively little money for their hard work in order to make more profit. Now I have no idea about your personal circumstances ie your qualifications, wethere you've been there or not and so on but to put it bluntly it would be extremely difficult for you to get a job there. If the millions of locals there have a hard time getting jobs for foreign companies then what chance do you have? Don't think that because your American that you have automatic preference because friend some of the people there are better educated and harder working than your willing to give them credit for. But if you really are wanting to pursue this I would first of all go and visit the Pines first if you haven't done so and see what the conditions are like on the ground and figure out if thats where you really want to work. The plus to that is you can easily find people who work for foreign companies especially in Manila. Best of luck with it all but don't forget the Philippines isn't a forgiving place to people who have made mistakes.
8 :
1. surf on line for american companies with branches or afflitiates in the philippines. 2. while you're still here in the states, start applying. be sure to put in your application that you prefer to be assigned in the philippines. 3. if you're already in the philippines - do step 1 and shop around for good employer good luck.

No. The recruiter just wants to take his money. The Philippines has massive unemployment. 10% fo the Philippine workforce is working outside the Philippines. He needs an employer to sponsor him and that employee must prove that there is no Filipino willing/qualified to take that job. It's almost impossible.

as long as its unlock.. but the problem is the wifii because it should be set up properly and Philippines doesnt have a good wifii receptions, and I think having an iPhone and not being able to use the Wifii is just losing the point of having an iPhone to begin with.. I think you just wait till they release the one for Philippines so everything should work.. I read somewhere that itll be around the end of 2008 or Q1 of 2009.

No, games and dvd's have different "zones" Basically they are set to play to certain signals. But you can still play them if you reformat them to play using an American Xbox.
2 :
It can work as long as you bring your own games with it. Games you buy there won't work due to being a different region.
3 :
Yes, of corse it will, I'm pretty sure that Xbox Live won't work, but yes, because it doesn't matter about the ''zone'', so YES, it will work.
4 :
dude, yes it will work, its a game, not online play, yeah it will
5 :
It wont work your Xbox has a GPS tracker inside and when Microsoft notices it is in the Phillipines it will self destruct. Of course it will work there you may need a power adapter to plug it in but thats it. Just make sure to bring your own games the games sold there will not work in your xbox

A trend now is risk going to a country that you want to work in as a tourist and look for a job while you are there. I have friends who have been successful in doing this. While it is very risky to spend a lot of money and cannot be guaranteed that you can find a job before your tourist visa expires, it also has its advantages. First, you don't have to go through all the red tape in our country. You don't have to wait a long time since you are applying personally to companies abroad. And more importantly, you have more choices and you can see for yourself your place of employment. A lot of people I know working abroad are not happy with their employers so it's much better to see for yourself the company before signing a contract. Most companies abroad who hire diverse nationalities are more than willing to help in the processing of documents to transfer your status from tourist to working visa. If you plan to do this, find a friend in that country and ask for his help on your travel plans. Always be safe and good luck =)

Hotel Jobs in Dubai are plenty, however, the person with good people skills and a pleasing attitude gets better pay and other benefits. Of course, this does not happen overnight. If your hotel guests are kept happy, they spreads the word and those words reach the right ears. I would advise you search some of the excellent jobs available at http://www.dubai-forever.com/hotel-jobs-in-dubai.html, and decide for yourself.

Has anybody tried it without the webcam, just talk audio.? Please let me know what I need to do.

If you have unblocked internet... yes... The way skype works the only thing that anyone who is not you can tell from your internet traffic is The port number Your IP address Who your communicating with The port is normally the way that you can tell what someone is doing. Like port 80 is normal internet traffic.. you are using port 80 right now most likely. So if I was the government or a business I would block port 80. Most ports have a common use. So you can use skype with port 80 if you want.. It will just look like you might be doing online banking or something, There is no real way to tell because skype is encrypted. Skype does not have a common port that it uses because when you install skype it chooses a random port to use. This makes it pretty hard to block.
2 :
I have been using Skype for over 3 years with good results. I use it for Skype-to-Skype and Skype-to-Phone calls. Technically speaking, Skype should work anywhere in the world that has high-speed Internet connection. However, it is well know that there are a some countries around the world whose governments and ISP's may block Skype calls because it is considered competition to their monopoly telecom industry. Just download Skype and test it to find out if it works for you. http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/ Be sure your Windows Firewall or AntiVirus is not blocking Skype from accessing the Internet. It will not work if they do block it. If Windows Firewall and AV is allowing Skype but still not connecting to Internet, check the following setting in Skype: Tools--> Options--> Advanced--> Connection Here, you will see what port your Skype installation is trying to use to access the Internet. If your Router Firewall is blocking that port, then check the box: "Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections" This will fix many connection problems. Once installed and connected, just test your setup by calling the Skype Echo Server: "echo123" . You need a headset and microphone to talk and listen with. Call Echo123, and it will play back everything you say. This is how I test my connection and equipment with Skype. All calls to 1-800 numbers are free. Make a test call to Google's new free 411 business directory service. Test this by calling Goog411 at: 1-800-goog-411 (or, 1-800-466-4411) . This is a very cool new service by Google. It is voice activated and works quite well.

Any GPS unit should work in the Philippines, as the array of GPS satellites provides world-wide coverage. The problem is that if you want a moving map GPS unit like the Tom-Tom Navigator or Garmin Street Pilot, you'll have to find the system software that includes the maps for the country where you want to use the unit. The biggest manufacturers of portable GPS units are Garmin and Magellan. I'd suggest you contact these companies to see if they have maps available for the Philippines.
2 :
any Garmin GPS models will do, but most of my GPS buddies in the philippines are using Nuvi 350, 650 & GPSMap 276C. i'm using Garmin eTrex Legend & eMap & aside from that i also use my O2 XDA IIs PDA-Phone with Garmin Que software and a bluetooth GPS reciever. as far as i know, only Garmin GPS units accepts customized maps. filipinos & foreigners staying in the philippines took this advantage & create their own accurate philippine maps which you can download from this site: http://mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com/mapview.php?id=818

The same way a doctor from China came to work in America. Expertise or a knowledge of a certain method of practice in medicine. Hospitals and doctors, communicate amongst each other, when there is a job opening in a hospital through out the world. A hospital wanting someone who is GOOD at their job will not limit it to one country, but would rather extend that opportunity to others to better their staff and their customers. It's a process and the medical field are not the only ones who do so, engineering and so forth.
3 :

It is not about freedom but for the OFW's safety. It is also a burden of the government negotiating for your release of an OFW being kidnapped whatsoever. They can't just leave their nationals even they are illegally working abroad.

I'm just amused what it can mean. The passport says not valid for Iraq. So, that means Somalia is ok? Yeah! How about Sudan? Yeah! it should be ok too! Seriously, I think it's political. There are other dangerous countries to be in as well, but Iraq is an exception?

Why would you want an electoral college anywhere? It was a paternalistic, plutocratic concept when added to the U.S. Constitution, and it is definitely undemocratic. In a true democracy, the candidate with the most popular votes is elected to office. With an electoral college, a candidate with fewer votes than his opponent has won in some elections.

will tv bought in france work in philippines

will tv bought in france work in philippines?

TVs - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The only thing that would cause it not to work is the power supply but they make adapters for that. So, yes. It will work.
2 :
Not at all likely. There is one definite problem and another possible problem. First, the killer: the TV transmission standard in France is not the same as in the P.I. France currently uses SECAM and will convert to all digital DVB-T by 2015. The P.I. currently uses NTSC and will convert to all-digital ISDB-T by the end of 2011. So unless your TV is a multi-standard set (capable of both SECAM and NTSC), that alone will keep it from working in the P.I. today, and after next year, no chance. The second issue is the a.c. power. Both countries use 220 volts at the wall receptacle, but France is 50 hz and the P.I. is 60 hz. If the TV will accept either frequency, it's okay. Some equipment is okay with 50-60 hz, and other devices need one or the other without exception. Bottom line: sell the old TV in France and buy a new one in the P.I.
