I would make sure it is unlocked. If the store is reputable, they should be able to test it for you. An unlocked GSM phone will allow you to use it anywhere.

probly since all phone models are made to fit international sim cards. cus my cuz bought a samsung phone too from ph and brought it with him to rome. though idk if he still uses a sim.

in my past companies, we had expats. they say they love working here because of the perks. the salary is quite high and sometimes, there is a package that enables them to bring their whole family here. they also love the beaches and they say filipinos are one of the most amiable people on earth.

My feelings on the Phillippines is that it probably would not be safe. There is a strong anti-anglo sentiment there. There have been cases of American missionaries being kidnapped and killed by muslim extremists.

for some of the foreigners, the job gives them a lot of perks, like housing, a car, and better salaries.
4 :
If the company that I work for opened a branch in Manila and needed a "volunteer" to help establish it I would definately jump at such an opportunity. To be paid an Australian wage while working in the Philippines would be a job made in 'heaven'

no choice???

YES, I do. I'm not a foreigner. I'm 100% Pinay currently stucked here in Houston, TX. But yes, I'd like to go back to my home country and work there....any outstanding university is fine with me...it must be in the academe....or my own consultancy firm (i.e. HRD projects).

An Indian, who has good friends in the Philippines, I would certainly appreciate a chance to work there : ...As most Filipinos speak and write excellent English, communication with my colleagues will not prove any problem either. ...But the real problem is that there will hardly be any takers for my fields of specialisation, and that too, paying my kind of wage-scales !

I am an American living in the Philippines and I have to address this issue to one of the answers above. What is the difference in being kidnapped and killed by a "Musilem" while you are at work in the Philippines, or Being taken into the freezer and shot in the head for $150. while you are working at McDonalds in New York, by a Christian?

my husband is a foreigner and he would like to work here providing that the income will be the same as he earn abroad, but sadly there is no job opportunity that offers the same amount he is earning. He would like to work here because he thought Philippines is amazing and with amazing people..but then again he can't work here because of the low salary. Anyway, he will retire here.

talk with some foreign friends they like to work here if given the opportunity and the pay scale is the same back home because of the perk like free home ,car etc. and the beaches and pinoy hospitality of friendliness

im from cagayan de oro and i can say that working here is safe, it actually depends on the type of work that you want. Dont expect too much from what other countries are offering, in terms of salary, benefits , etc. You can work anywhere in the Philippines , just avoid some parts of Mindanao where terrorist activity is high. No matter where you go, even manila, you will see people with bad motives, snatchers, etc. I suggest if you have some capital, you start your own business here.

I worked in Manila for 3 years and loved it. I hope to go back someday.

Tracfone Motorola GSM C139-4, will it work in the philippines

Tracfone Motorola GSM C139-4, will it work in the philippines?
TRACFONE Motorola GSM C139-4 runs in GSM 900/1800 which is what they use in the philippines if I recall correctly. Im going down there for a vacation for 3 weeks and dont feel like bringing one of my more expensive phones. Will it work if I just use a sim card down there, or do I still have to unlock phone?

No, tracfone does not have coverage in the Philippines. Regardless of the technology, they only rent time from networks in the USA (and Canada / Mexico ?) . I suggest you get a prepaid phone in the philippines, one that offers cheap international rates like tracfone here, and use that one while you are there.
