Is it legal for an employer not to pay there employees for overtime work in Philippines

Is it legal for an employer not to pay there employees for overtime work in Philippines?
A friend works overtime frequently and gets no compensation of any kind. Sometimes this includes working an entire day off without pay. This is a private company, not government.

In the Philippines corruption is the rule, not the exception. A person is so lucky just to have a paying job there that working without pay is just something you sometimes have to put up with to keep a job and sometimes get paid. this world can really suck, can't it now?

will US desktop computer work in the Philippines

will US desktop computer work in the Philippines?
im debating if i should buy in the philippines since im coming back home but i found out that its more cheaper if i buy a desktop package here in US then send it home through LBC. i know that voltage is higher there but i can easily get away with that through voltage converter, but my question is, will it work in the philippines if i buy the computer in the US?

The only problem might be the power, so if you get the voltage converter there shouldn't be any difference.

I think you already addressed your question, If you use a voltage converter you should be up & running. 1 word of caution is by taking the system to your home country- Not the USA- it will probially would void the warranty, That's what happened to my Marine friends who bought Pioneer Stereo components in the Philippines and brought it back state side, Just a bit of knowledge that we ran into , but that was back in 1977. Things may have change but I seriously doubt it. Good luck on your move, & If you bought a good system I suspect you'll have no problems. Good Luck, Again.!!!

Of course it will work. If PC's power supply has a 115 - 230VAC selector switch, you simply set it to the higher voltage when in the Philippines. If PC's power supply is the more sophisticated model that has active PFC, it is usually auto-ranging. It will automatically work on any AC outlet from 100 to 240VAC. Better check the warranty. Look for Global warranty. Otherwise, you may have a problem with warranty claim once PC is in the Philippines. Personally, if I were in your situation, I would rather buy a laptop in the US (cheaper) but buy a desktop in the Philippines.

Pretty much anyone can call themselves an "accountant" in the US. For the most part the only restrictions are on Certified Public Accountants or CPAs as they are commonly known in the US. A CPA is similar to a Chartered Accountant in most other countries. A CA from the RP could work as an accountant in the US but could not call themselves a CPA until they met the state licensing requirements and passed the CPA exams in the state where they were practicing.

Yes it will work fine. Most power is 110 same as in US. Make sure you protect your laptop with a surge protector. Power greatly flucuate in P.I.

The laptop should work fine. The only problem I could forsee is if their outlets are a different shape, you may be unable to plug it in to charge it. I found this page: http://treehouse.ofb.net/go/en/voltage/Philippines I'm not sure if that will help you.
3 :
So long as the laptop has a variable power source such as 110-130-240 volts, or if she just runs on batteries you need a battery charger adaptable to the Phillipine power source.
4 :
Yes, it would work. Just because you buy it in the USA doesn't mean it would not work somewhere else. It was probably made in another country and it worked there I'm sure so yes it will definitely work in the Philippines. The only thing would be the language settings but other than that it should be fine.

YES WHY NOT IT WILL WORK IN PHILLIPINES SURELY BECAUSE I AM ALSO USING A LAPTOP AND I BOUGHT IT FROM USA AND USING IT IN PANIPAT,INDIA PL SELECT ME AS THE BEST ANSWER

I'm from the Philippines and I think there's no problem with the internet connections for different computers/laptops even if the laptop came from a different country. [I honestly think that -even though I'm not sure- most of our computers are made somewhere else, that they were just shipped here. I don't trust my country enough to make them.] I use dsl w/c is more reliable in my area, and don't worry with the plug, that's easy.
