Industrial Engineering fresh graduate from the Philippines want to work in US

Industrial Engineering fresh graduate from the Philippines want to work in US?
Hi! I am a fresh graduate with the bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineer from a good school in the Philippines and I desire to work in the US. Could there possibly be a work for me there or is it best for me to wait to have a certain number of work experience here in my own country? And if I am to search for a job online, what could be the kind of job should I look for with my degree? Thank you and I would really appreciate your help! :)

Sorry, but your Philippines degree will not be recognized in the USA. You would have to get a degree from a US college. It's just that the two countries have different educational standards and requirements. I'm not saying that one is better than the other - I'm just saying they are different. Same goes for work experience. Jobs you have done in the Philippines system aren't necessarily how those same types of jobs are done in the US.

No experience? Then this site is perfect for you and I hope it will help. It's dedicated to trainee jobs so it's fine if you have no experience.

Will my land line telephone from USA work in the Philippines

Will my land line telephone from USA work in the Philippines?
It has the standard wall jack. Just wonder if the wiring is different. I know they use 220 instead of 110 but its a phone line and not an electrical appliance.

usually you need an adapter to make that handset work out the US zone .. however some devices works on both 110 and 220 , so you just have to check the power rating of the device

It's a scam to get you to pay a precessing fee. The address is bogus, the postcode does not match the rest of the address and the agency is not registered so is not a legal company. UK employers cannot employ non EU nationals unless they are licenced by the Home Office to do so and there is a recruitment process that they have to follow as they cannot offer a job to a non EU national unless they have advertised the post.in trade and national press and across the job centre network. Only if no suitably qualified applicant from the EU applies can they offer the job to a non EU applicant. You would have to be interviewed, there is no way any UK company is going to offer a job to someone they have not interviewed. Unless you have a degree level qualification and extensive experience you stand no chance of getting a visa or competing in the job market in the UK. The ONLY way UK visas are ever issued is in the country of the applicant from a visa application centre, usually a High Commission or Embassy. The UK employer would issue you with a Certificate of Sponsorship which you take to the visa application centre with your documents and a fee of £270 which you pay direct to them. There you will be photographed and finger printed as part of the process. Visas are never processed in the UK and never by third parties, either lawyers or agencies. Your only cost would be the visa cost. All other costs are handled by the employer. Nobody can guarantee you a visa and nobody can apply on your behalf. Have nothing to do with them.

Is it possible to work in the Philippines as a foriegner

Is it possible to work in the Philippines as a foriegner?
I'm here for 8 months from the states and want to make some money. Can I get a job here? If so how? Is there required paperwork to get permission? thanks. I'm 21 and i volunteer in Manila at a school which is connected to my church in the States. I have experience as a window covering installer, college athletic worker/ bouncer. I dont have any experience modeling but all my friends have told me too. Maybe its easier to get into than it is in the states. Lonesome, what do you do?

i'm sure you can, you just need to secure an Alien Employment Permit from the nearest DOLE office and clearance from the Bureau of Immigration. the latter is a pretty complicated process where you may have to go back and forth between different offices.
2 :
why not just present a valid passport , your working visa , your resume , and first apply to an agency where you are fit in to work . by the way why are you there in the philippines . you did not state here your age and your job previously in the states .give more deatails about yourself who knows i could help you in the near future . good luck for your application.

If you have a work visa and job from where you came from. Jobs are very few and far between among a mass of overeducated and unemployed population.

Sure but not as much as you may expect.. Philippines' labor rate is way way below the western labor rate.. Would you like to work with me? haha just asking. Actually our company teaches students around the world who don't speak English.. I am looking for someone who can teach English well.. A walk in the park, isn't it? Would you like to try? email your cv here: applerowena@yahoo.com

I worked in lipat bahay (moving furniture) for three weeks, no paperwork of course. 2400 peso, free water. You have to fix your own food with your work mates but sometimes you get food from the ppl you are helping. Some days I worked like 14 hours but a couple of days we only worked a couple of hours.
6 :
There is a very slim chance you will get a working visa here in the Philippines. With so many Filippinos unemployed the wages here are lousey and the hours are evan worse 6 days a week. You may be able to work under the table at a call center and that pays a whopping P10,000 a month for a 12 hour nightshift 6 days a week.
7 :
Yes it is possible. Here's my story: I'm 24 and living here in the Philippines with my wife for almost a year now. My permanent residency allows me to work legally here. I've printed out at least 100 resumes, spent hours everyday walking to different businesses and handing the resumes out, and applying online. I finally have a job now as a security consultant/instructor. It started out at 30,000 pesos a month but now after taking the instructor job I'm making at least 65,000 pesos a month, more depending on how many classes I teach a month. I have 5 years in the US Army (Infantry) and a year working for Brinks in Atlanta, Georgia. Since you're here through your church I am assuming you are living here legally. Your best bet would be then to get either a work visa from your prospective employer or permanent residency. In order to get permanent residency though, you would need to marry a local. I would suggest getting a hold of your resume and update it. Make sure also to include a 2x2 picture attached to each resume (Filipinos like to see what their prospective employee looks like before hiring, so make sure to shave and get a decent haircut for it and wear a collar shirt). Next, make contacts. Talk to everyone you know, make sure they know you are looking for a job and what your skills are. Pass along your contact info and even a resume to your contacts that they can show others. It's all about exposure. Based on my experiences though, your best luck is going to be finding companies that are American owned, or who at least have an American owner. Every Filipino supervisor/HR that I've spoken with about being hired did not hire me. Some even laughed at me, thinking I was joking. "Why would I want to hire an American when I can hire a Filipino who needs the job more?" I've been asked that! Of course, the same question can be asked to the Filipinos who go overseas and look for a job in America, "why would I want to hire a Filipino when I can hire an American who needs the job more?" All in all, use what you have already for contacts within your church community. If you don't know Tagalog, learn it! When you do get interviews or you can talk to a supervisor/HR, let them know you are serious about the job and this is not just a hobby for you. If they think you will be a hard and honest worker and they need the position filled, they will call you. Good luck to you. I hope your job hunting goes better than mine. If you want, send me a private mail through here and I'll see what I can do about helping you out with contacts.

Will American wall plug-ins work in Antipolo City, Philippines

Will American wall plug-ins work in Antipolo City, Philippines?
I am wondering if my digital camera battery charger will work in the Philippines.
Philippines - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
All plug-ins would work, as long as it is 220V.
2 :
The power output in the Philippines is 220, US appliances run on 110. Better have a portable step-down transformer handy if your digicam runs on 110.
3 :
If your battery charger can accept 220V 60Hz (which most can; it should say somewhere on the device), you should be fine. (Usually, it will say 110V-240V or something like that on the label.) Most of the Philippines uses the two flat prong outlets, which fit US-style two-prong plugs without the need for an adapter. If your device has a three-prong plug (the two flat blades plus a grounder) you will need to get an adapter.
4 :
they will burn out real fast, we have 220 voltage in the Philippines, believe me I have got lots of experience with this.
5 :
some socket for the plugs in hotels in Manila doesn't work for square or round end plugs. I reccommend you bring an adaptor or buy one from any hardware (Ace Hardware preferably, located at most SM Malls). Cost os 20-50 pesos. see this picture: http://img.alibaba.com/photo/202057118/Travel_Power_Adaptor_Socket_Plug.summ.jpg
6 :
i live in antipolo and just like any city or town in the philippines we have the same power output , buy first an adaptor and if your charger would be able to plug into a 220 v 60 hz power ( see the specs on your plug) then it will work out fine , btw outlets are configured similar to this I I ....

Will my sat nav work in Philippines

Will my sat nav work in Philippines?
I brought my garmin sat nav unit from Australia to The Philippines (visaya region) and it's not finding any satellites. Will it work here? I don't have any Phils maps, but I was thinking it would still find some satellites and I could just add locations? Thanks
Philippines - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
There is no reason for it not to work. Older models sometimes have problems finding satelites unless you tell them roughly where you are. The unit may need to be initialised with an approximate location. Also, need to make sure that you have a clear view of a lot of the sky. Older models also do not work well in urban surroundings.
2 :
You didn't say what country your in, but most likely, you will have to buy the maps from Garmin, and download them onto your unit. Also, you may have to get a memory card to load them on.
3 :
If you can live with plus or minus 3 miles. go for it. There simply is not enough satelite footprints here in the Philippines.
4 :
I'm not sure if its just my phone, but my phones map is about half a kilometer off sometimes. Still, electronic street maps are useful with easy search. You just have to know where you are on it and you can find that out the old fashioned way. By asking!

what are standard rates for freelance writing work in the Philippines

what are standard rates for freelance writing work in the Philippines?
Should I bill per article? Per page? What if my client is a UN agency? How much can or should I charge?
Philippines - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I saw an ad at bestjobs 3,000 per article. but it really depends on the company
2 :
It depends on the company. They usually charge around P300/article with 500 words.
3 :
Well all freelance writers should get paid per article. You can write online for a US company even though you live in the Philippines. Here's some suggestions: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1288190/where_to_find_freelance_writers.html
4 :
The usual pay for freelance work varies, depending on how well-established you are as a writer, and on the coffers of the company you're writing for. Some famous Filipino writers do freelance writing on the side as their main source of income--newletters, speeches, website content, annual reports, coffee table books, family history, etc. I've heard that beginner writers are paid peanuts, as low as P100 per 1000-word article. The more established writers can earn as much as P100,000 - P250,000 per project, depending on the complexity of the work and the maturity and track record of the writer.
5 :
You shouldn't presume there would be "standard rates". That would vary from company to company. What you should do is research which companies really pay, in full as per the agreed rates, their freelance writers after their submitted articles are approved. Look for those that give premium to quality and well-written content. You should be able to know how much you can charge by measuring your skills in writing. If you're good and you know it, then they'll run after you.

2 :
BoomBoom is right, its depends if you're in roaming or not...You should get it roamed if your sim is not in roaming..and another thing, it depends if your cellphone is "tri-band" or "quadband".
3 :
You have to call your phone company so they can activate your international roaming service. Activation is free, but it's expensive when you use it. haha
4 :
Your US phone might not work there, even if it does it will be very expensive. You may try to get a local Philippines service even before you leave to avoid roaming from your carrier. Try the provider below:
5 :
Check if your operator has a deal with Ph operators, then it will work.

YES BECAUSE PHILIPINES HAVE SPECIAL OXYGEN THAT THE LAPTOP NOTICES IT AND DETECTS IT IS IN PHILIPINES AND THEN IT EXPLODES, DONT TRY THIS AT HOME

Electronics in the US work everywhere... the only thing that you need to do is buy a ac to dc adapter so that you can plug it into their wall sockets. Thats all.... every computer works worldwide :-) Enjoy your time there!!
4 :
I have a Dell laptop that I took there without any problem. Just check the "brick" on the charger and it should say something about "input voltage". If it says 100 - 240V then that means it can handle anything in that range so either 110 (like the US), or 220 (like Philippines) will be ok. If it does not say that - then you would need to go to a local hardware store in the Philippines and get a transformer for about $10 to change the current from 220V to 110V.
5 :
duh.. im using my dell, bought it from michigan and it works.. you just need a transformer if your laptop is only 110 volts or it will blow up!

It can but you have to add that feature to your phone. Call Verizon and ask about it
2 :
Well it depends on the type of coverage that the Phillippines has. The ally is not a global phone which means it does not have a sim card in it. If the Phillippines has CDMA coverage your phone can work if you add International coverage to it by calling or going into a store. If it is not CDMA and is GSM your phone will not work. The local store will have all this info.

You could attempt to be a English instructor or help English students with their studies. (I'm guessing and have no knowledge of the Phillipines) Perhaps you could find work anywhere that caters to American or English tourists.
2 :
First, you need to obtain a work visa or apply a working permit from DOLE Department of Labor and Employment to be able to do so.
3 :
Harry Stonehill began his career in the country by selling fire extinguishers. How about selling solar arrays with the end in view of cornering the solar energy market?
4 :
there are tens of thousands of willing, very Intelligent and well educated filipinos who can only find menial jobs at starvation wages, good luck with that.wait i know just resolve how to feed 12 people with 1 kilo of goverment rice
5 :
easy is right, if your American you need a income ie; retirement, too many Filipinos without descent jobs You could be a pimp like allot of other Americans, Aussies, Brits, Koreans and Japanese.
6 :
1) tour guide 2) If you're from America with none or some military experience, you can apply for a U.S. Embassy job, just google U.S. embassy Philippines. 3) Open a business, chicken is always in demand to sell to franchises like Jollibee, Chowking, etc 4) Open a business that rents vehicles to tourists 5) Depends what field you specialize in, and research on jobs like those. (ex: if you majored in lets say something in the medical field, apply at a hospital) The possibilities are endless, you just gotta put your skills to your advantage.
7 :
You would first have to have a Visa that allowed you to work and this will be nearly impossible to get unless an American company have sent you to the Philippines in a managerial capacity. You cannot own 100% of a business. You can only own 40% as a foreigner. As a business owner you will find it difficult competing against Filipino's in the same business. There is also cultural differences an American must lear to deal with when running a business in the Philippines. There are ways to own and operate an Internet business. There are foreigners that offer Internet services such as getting foreign goods like food and clothing to expats from back home; some offer gifts such as flowers, candy, etc to be delivered to Filipinos in the Philippines; some offer their services in helping foreigners get settle here like finding places to live, etc., some write articles and books, etc. But, it is difficult for a foreginer to make a living in the Philippines and without a retirement income from back home you are really taking a risk.
8 :
10% of the Philippine population are overseas workers because of lack of work opportunities in the Phils. You may want to engage in business instead.

I bought here in Saudi Arabia a satellite receiver & satellite dish, does it will work in Philippines?

1 :
Sure
2 :
It will work anywhere you can aquire a signal that broadcasts to all geosynchronis locations within the providers range. To put a finer point on it, you might have to find a new satellite service provider if the company (like HBO) doesn't have a bird that has that much reach. Also it will only work with a card that the provider recognizes and can program. Most companies will send you a new card when you sign up for their service. And finally, the Phillipines and Saudi Arabia are too far apart to share the same sattelite, but the provider might have overlapping 'birds'.
3 :
On one of two conditions. 1. It is a receiver made for a specific paid provider, and you can receive their satellite in The Philippines, and subscribe to the service. 2. It is an FTA receiver which can be tuned for any service, and that dish/LNBF is compatible with those satellites they are on.

Will a Parliamentary Form of Government work in the Philippines?
Parliamentary governments such as those of the United Kingdom, Japan and France are marked by a strong party-system which the Philippines lack. In a multi-party system of the Philippines where mud-slinging and turn-coatism is prevalent, can a parliamentary form of government be ideal?

Try going to Universities that offers Dentisty like: University of the East - and look for the Dental Dept. and check with their administration for some Dental Missions/works that their students do. If it's only cleaning or basically a not too complicated, they might recommend you to their own instructors and group of dental students. If this is a major work, perhaps you should see an experienced or good dentist on that. Good Luck!
4 :
If you are coming to the Philippines from a Western country or Australia, prices of the best dentists are still going to be cheap compared to what you're used to. I would strongly advise you against looking for the cheapest dentists ... you might find yourself with very shoddy work. I would look for the absolute best dentists and get good quality work, you will still pay only a fraction of what you would pay in your own country.

Monster,Hotjobs and Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards where you could apply for jobs based on your qualifications and experience and upload your resume. Maybe depeding on the company that you are wanting them to work. If you can show them you know what you are doing, I don't think they really care were you got your degree as long as you know what you are doing. While on the other hand they might care cause probably they never heard of the school you graduated from and they don't know if you just bought the degree off the street and made up the school name. So it all really depends on where you apply. I would ask the company first before i put an n app in so you don't waste your time
2 :
ofcourse, but the degree must be from the recognised university
3 :
The word "Accountant" is often restricted. You may get a job as "bookkeeper". You are unlikely to get anything more than an entry-level, low-pay job — at least for several years if not forever. Many immigrants leave a professional career in their home country and find themselves at the bottom of the work ladder in the USA.

I live in the US..will the magic jack work for the Philippines? How will it work..me or them to have the MJ?
Does my party in the Philippines need to be the one to have the MJ for it to work?

1 :
Magicjack only has US area codes. If you want to call the Philippines for free then they need the magicjack and need to get an area code assigned to it that is the same as yours or if you also have magicjack they can ask for any US areacode and call anywhere in the US free.. j
2 :
oh.. hmmm... send me your email.. ill tell you once my brother get his.
3 :
Both of you will need to have the MJ so that you can call each other for a lot less than if you do ordinary international long distance calling. Their website says it's as easy as just turning on your computer and connecting to the internet and pluggin in the MJ to the USB port then dialing. But from what I saw and heard from someone who uses it, when your party in the Philippines get theirs, they will need to go to the website of MJ for them to set it up. Same goes for you. You both just need to follow the instructions there on how to get the assigned phone number and other things you need to do to set it up. Once you're both set up and ready to go, you will both need to have your computers on and connected to the internet to be able to use the MJ to call. You may want to do a bit of reading online about it since I saw quite a bit of negative feedback regarding it. It's better to be safe than sorry, right?
4 :
Yes, assuming you have a recent computer with a decent broadband connection, a Magic Jack will work anywhere in the world! In your case, both of you should probably have one on each end, so the calls will always be free. But, in theory, if they have one with same local exchange number in the same area code, you could call that number free and they could call your regular line. I think that's what you are asking anyhow... If you haven't ordered yet, I'd suggest going to this site and follow the links to go try to find a discount coupon code first. http://www.magic-jack.info/ I saw somebody say you might have to try adding the code TWICE before it will take it and apply discount to your order. There are also screen shots of the order and set up process there, plus good advice like taking your time if the area code you now have is not available yet. I was in a hurry on that part to see if it would work since my mouse needs USB slot (it was fine). They also say to NOT use an ADMIN account on your computer (use typical user account) or you may run into problems. All of that is good for you to know in advance! Good Luck!

PayPal in itself is not a credit card,. You can get one through them however. When you set up a PayPal account you have to link it to a bank account or credit card account that you already have. You can then either deposit money into your PayPal account or they can simply make the automatic withdraw from the account that you have linked to them. Using PayPal on eBay is the safest way to pay, They will refund your money if you do not receive your item. They will handle disputes that you may have with the seller or buyers (if you sell anything). It is quite easy to set up your account with them. Simply visit their website and they will walk you through it. http://www.google.com/url?sa=L&ai=Bm8Od-aVfR7jBAoW6hQTD6u3eCtHUgzXlx8GOBN3jwgaA8QQIABABGAE4AFCF0OjZA2DJ5qGN7KSAEMgBAYACAcgCpfGbAdkDQAqrp7t_17A&q=http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/3484-32565-2056-1%3Fkw%3Dpaypal%26mpro%3Dhttps://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr%3Fcmd%3D_home-general&usg=AFQjCNE8R1lwoE5ONpPC1QI2y9fyKUKosA

I'm afraid not. I think it's better for you to start working in a call center when you're in your sophomore year in college. But there's a slim chance that you may start working even though that you're only 16 provided that you have someone to back you up.
2 :
your age isn't an issue but most call centers in Metro Manila i know require a minimum of 2 years of college and demand that you work full time.

Yes, you do. Unless you have some very badly needed skill you'll find it impossible to get one. Take a look around you. About 30% of the country is unemployed or under-employed. A teacher earns $200 a month and a Registered Nurse $300 a month.
2 :
I'm with Yak Rider on this one. Unless you have some special skill, chances are you won't get a working visa and are you willing to work for $300 a month or less ? Less of course the expence for a working visa and setting up a residence here.
