Any GPS unit should work in the Philippines, as the array of GPS satellites provides world-wide coverage. The problem is that if you want a moving map GPS unit like the Tom-Tom Navigator or Garmin Street Pilot, you'll have to find the system software that includes the maps for the country where you want to use the unit. The biggest manufacturers of portable GPS units are Garmin and Magellan. I'd suggest you contact these companies to see if they have maps available for the Philippines.

any Garmin GPS models will do, but most of my GPS buddies in the philippines are using Nuvi 350, 650 & GPSMap 276C. i'm using Garmin eTrex Legend & eMap & aside from that i also use my O2 XDA IIs PDA-Phone with Garmin Que software and a bluetooth GPS reciever. as far as i know, only Garmin GPS units accepts customized maps. filipinos & foreigners staying in the philippines took this advantage & create their own accurate philippine maps which you can download from this site: http://mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com/mapview.php?id=818
